TESTED TEAM ASSOCIATED words: Carl Hyndman photos: Carl Hyndman TEAM KIT T he 1/10-scale 2WD electric buggy class is arguably the most competitive class in racing these days, with clubs and events stacked with entries. It has become so popular that to keep up with the demand, all sorts of sub-categories have popped up, such as Novice, Sportsman Stock, Expert Stock, Masters, Super Stock, Modified, and other divided classes, to make sure that everyone gets their share of glory. (We think there are too many classes, but that’s a topic for another discussion.) Team Associated is a big player in this class, and they’ve changed their attack by releasing a new buggy on what seems like a daily basis to follow all the new innovations and trends going on in the top tier of racing. This newest buggy follows in the footsteps of the successful B6 platform, and like its predecessor, it’s available in two versions to meet the unique characteristics of dirt and carpet/Astro-turf tracks. We got our hands on the B6.1D (the “D” representing the dirt version), and we built it and put it through some paces. Let’s see what makes this version so special. 78 WWW.VRCMAG.COM Indoor photos don’t look good.
