I’ll be honest, I haven’t really built a kit in a long time. So when I sat down today to start the build of the Tamiya F104v2, I got pretty excited. Tamiya F1 bodies are insanely detailed and I started with the body FIRST, since it will take much longer to do than the actual kit. I broke out my trusty old Lexan Scissors and started getting all “Edward Scissor” on that thing. OUCH! I’m not sure if you’ve done this before but this body is a pain to cut out. I felt like I was given 1000 feet of Lexan and had to cut it down to a small little 2″ pattern. I took a picture of the shrapnel that was left over. I am going to get some paint on it shortly and then break out the Dremel to smooth it out. I wonder if real F1 team spend this much time on the body?
I’ll update with some pictures as I get going!
UPDATE.
Body is cut out, and I realized I hate stickers. Tamiya it’s time to include die-cut because all those tiny stickers are great if you were a 1/10-scale body man.
I’ve also got the electronics in…well mostly. I have to stick in the receiver. It was a little confusing where to put the battery, but I figured I’d start with it pushed all the way back and the electronics in the nose. Pictures of the final install will be coming…now I just need to get the right tires, or is it tyres?
