Nitro fuel is amazing, but the engines we run that type of fuel in aren’t the most user friendly. Tuning can deter lots of people away from the sport. Gas engines in larger vehicles are much better at holding a tune. Remember the last time you tuned your weedwacker? Me either. But the issue of getting a small gasoline engine in a car is a compromise of power for ease of use. HPI hopes to change the world with their new engine and at the recent NHRSA event showed off a Savage XL prototype with the gas engine installed. Talking to Collin, he said the release date is “2012” and they are constantly working on getting the engine to provide a similar performance to a current Savage truck.
We can’t wait to see what this engine does for performance and if it will be a game changer.
