I love nitro, but I HATE pull-starts! It’s as simple as that. I was cleaning up an old nitro car to give to a friend and I wanted to fire up the engine and make sure it ran well before passing it off. Since this machine was sitting for a couple of years it wasn’t the easiest first start. After about 15 to 20 semi-aggressive pulls of the starter I could hear the engine wanting to fire but still no luck. Then it happened; the pain of tender fingers shot to my brain and I looked down to see two newly formed craters in between my fingers where skin used to be (and the pull starter handle still was). After installing some fresh Band-Aids, I was off the races again. A few quick yanks later and the engine was purring away perfectly but I still had some war wounds that surely would last the week with me. As I already said, I love nitro, but I hate pull-starts.
