RC is a mixed bag. It can be a solo sport, or a social sport. While testing the Duratrax Evader Brushless, I decided to take a run at night. I needed a stress relief and a mindless 20 minutes of ripping smile-inducing wheelies seemed like the right thing to do. I could be outside and alone with my simple thoughts.
I’m sure most of RC enthusiasts have done this and it shows that you can do more than one thing alone that’s a good time and this one doesn’t kill kittens!
But something else happened at 8pm at night. My new neighbors, who I haven’t really met since they moved in, saw a missile going down the street. First the wife came over and asked me “how fast does that thing go” and followed it up by “did you build it” we chatted while her husband was unloading the car. I offered her the wheel but she laughed and said it’s too fast, and sent her husband over. For the next 30 minutes we chatted about RC (He had a nitro 1/8 over 16 years ago but couldn’t remember the brand) and got to know each other.
The moral of this story. 1. RC cars can pick up chicks…so they are married big deal. Second, even when you think RC cars isn’t a social sport you meet your neighbors.
