UPDATE!!!! Official release details and pics!
One may have thought that the leaked sales flyer for the new Traxxas 1/8-scale NHRA Funny Car (officially licensed too) was a cruel Traxxas April Fools joke. Traxxas doesn’t seem like the company to put mustard in the jelly doughnuts, or to put glue on the toilet seat like many people thought.

Today they released their new kit and it fits into their entire mentality of “who cares if people don’t think it’s going to work” and dropped a purpose built dragster. You can get it in a few flavors, and paint schemes but the main details are pretty impressive. You get 70mph out of the box (oh don’t think we’re not thinking about dropping in the motor from our XO-1) and some pretty cool tuning features thanks to that super dandy TQi radio system and iTouch docking system.

The other sick part of this release is a DTS-1 Drag Timing system that will allow you to setup races anywhere. Traxxas, you are sick in the head…and we love it. Please send us two! Drag racing alone is well…

Traxxas sponsors a real NHRA dragster and if you follow how things work, this release of a 1/8-scale dragster from Traxxas should be no surprise (but we are surprised). The ad is low-resolution, but you can even see them advertising a “tree” system to make the experience even more real.

Once we get full details we’ll share more, but this leak is very exciting!
