PRODUCT _Tekin Servos CONSTRUCTION: This servo comes in at a price that might raise some eyebrows, so it was nice to see its construction and design were on par. It includes CNC precision-cut gears, a coreless motor, a 6061-T6 machined-aluminum 3-piece O-ring housing and chamfered edges for that “pro” look. The rest of the servo follows suit, and everything looks well thought out and detailed. SERVO ARM INCLUDED: Surprisingly, the servo comes with an aluminum servo arm. Sure, all those plastic horns, extra screws, and pieces you normally see are there, but it’s nice to see an aluminum one included as well. The servo uses a fairly standard 25T spline for easy use. That’s a $15 value, and something racers often reach for to add precision and durability. However, the horn is fairly long, so it didn’t fit in our buggy, but other vehicles such as touring cars could use this. All the typical hardware is also included. HOTWIRE PROGRAMMABLE FEATURES Tekin backs up its servo lineup with programma-bility via the HotWire interface. Of course you can use the servo straight out of the package, but to really take advantage of the long list of features, you can use the HotWire interface to expand your control. We didn’t use one in our testing, but it is worth mentioning; below are listed the features they claim. A 25T aluminum servo arm is included and adds nice value. RATING Quality Performance Value FINAL VERDICT 9.0_The Tekin T-120 may demand a high price, but after seeing its long list of features and innovative technology, we’d have to say it’s worth it for those who are looking for that next level. Tekin claims it’s designed for 1/10- and 1/12-scale vehicles, and we’d have to agree. Realistically, most of us will probably never take advantage of the features, but it’s nice to know they are there, and for lazy racers like me who don’t want to hassle, it provides easy installation and durable performance. Also, if you are looking for a servo for other applications, Tekin offers a lineup that covers most. I’m a believer, and I’m sure their competition has taken note.
